Etymology

From 阿(あ)漕(こぎが)浦(うら) (Akogigaura, “a place name currently in Tsu, Mie prefecture”). From the legend, in the Ise grand shrine at Akogigaura, where fishing is prohibited, a fisherman got caught poaching fish. [1]
