Etymology
Borrowed from Classical Persian محرم sg (muḥarram /muharram/, “Muharram”), from Arabic مُحَرَّمٌ m sg (muḥarramun, “forbidden; Muharram”).
Vowels of all syllables had become back due to intervocalic Arabic pharyngeal consonant ـحـ (-ḥ-).
